Air 1 Moving & Storage Inc. Reviews - 3

THUG company. Will THREATEN you to get more moneyby manish s.

RUN AWAY. DO NOT BELIEVE IN THE FAKE REVIEWS. This is one of the most dishonest and uncaring company i have ever dealt with. I'm shocked that such business practice exists and is legal.
My move was contracted to Air1 Moving & Storage. The day of move, I have three movers from Air1 come to move and two of them does not speak english. BELIEVE ME THEY DON'T LOOK PROFESSIONALS LIKE IN THE VIDEO THEY HAVE HERE. My move was supposed to be estimated by weight, but on the day of pickup they said it would have to be by volume. So, they randomly predicted the volume of my move and said i was more that 100 cubic ft over than what was estimated. The movers did not look and work like professional movers at all. So they charged me $550 extra for the move. They made me pay the remaining half of the total and said that i would have to pay $900 remaining when my stuff arrives. 5 days from when they picked up my stuff they still haven't moved it from my warehouse. I had to call Air1Moving to get the status.
Air1 had now contracted my move to Move Experts. 10 days afer the pickup, they call me and tells me my remaining total is $950 and is not $900. Either pay the $50 more or they would not deliver my stuff. I had to agree to their THUG request since i was already sleeping on floor. Now, the day of delivery this truck driver picked up two non english speaking Mexicans from home depot or somewhere to deliver my stuff. They did not understand a word i said. The truck was packed VERY POORLY with other people stuff over my stuff. They broke my bicycle, vacuum, crib, bed, lamps. So, they basically charged me for full packing service and sent two UNKNOWN MEXICANS to deliver my stuff. The Mexicans were afraid that the truck driver (ninja moving) would not pay them and were making sure that he does not run away. While moving my crib, they dropped it and dented it badly as well. Fragile boxes were put UPSIDE DOWN in truck as well as in my room. My TV was put flat on the truck with some other peoples stuff on top. I had to instruct the Mexicans who did not speak english on how to assemble my furniture. THEY DID NOT HAVE NECESSARY TOOLS TO PUT MY FURNITURE TOGETHER. THEY WERE ASKING ME FOR IT. They almost broke my TV when trying to assemble. I let them go and assembled on my own. I HAD TO STAY OUTSIDE WITH THE TRUCK DIRVER TO TELL WHAT STUFF WAS MINE AND WHAT WAS NOT. Oh man.. I'm boiling up even when i think about it now. They also did not assemble my crib back and LOST all the screws for it. So, my child is right now sleeping with me on my bed. The truck driver again charged me $75 extra saying that it was a long carry when he had not even brought professional movers. The whole time, AIR1 MOVING extorted me to either pay more money or i would not get my stuff.

Do not believe in the ratings they have or anything they say. RUN AWAY.

We had a very horrible experience with The Moving Company. We hired them to move our stuff from Santa Clara, CA to Glendale, AZ. We selected the Moving Company based on the reviews which we saw on the Internet. Little did we know at that time that the move will turn out to be an excruciating ordeal for us, where our stuff will be DAMAGED, LOST and DELAYED by weeks.

Here are few lessons that we learnt and things that you should keep in mind.

Lesson #1 ## - Read the contract. They may tell you any date of delivery but they are liable to delivery by what they put on contract. There are so many other things in the contract like their maximum liability. Don't trust what they say or commit verbally.
Lesson #2 ## - Enquire about the movers and packers who will ultimately be moving your stuff. The one they selected for us lost our stuff and damaged furniture.
Lesson #3 ## - Insurance. Better take additional insurance / coverage for your move. You'll pay little extra but your moved will be covered.
Lesson #4 ## - If possible, move stuff yourself. Maybe rent a UHAL and drive yourself. Sell off what you can sell. Moving should be the last option.
Lesson #5 ## - Prepare for delays and plan accordingly.

Detailed review --

Don't trust the estimated delivery date which they tell you on phone or which they put on estimate sheet which they send. Mr. Christian from your company promised us that our stuff will be delivered no later than June/02/2014. Then we got a call from Viki that our stuff will be delivered by June/09/2014..then another call with a new firm date of June/16/2014..did they deliver on June-16? Nope! They kept delaying and we finally got our stuff on June/21/2014 !

We moved from CA to AZ on June 1st 2014 and because of this delay we had to sleep on carpet for 21 days ! but hey that's just a small part of many more challenges which we had to go through...I really don't want to write about how painful those 21 days were for us (given the medical condition which we had). You know what hurts the most? If you had given us the correct estimate of June-21st, we would have moved to a hotel at least!

Lost item- They lost one of the boxes in the transit. Total value of items in the box was $1016.33.. Monetary loss is just one part of it .. few stuff in the box were of sentimental importance which had been with us for years..

Damaged furniture - left side of our soda was completely damaged. We had to throw away the sofa. We had bought this sofa 2 months back!

Don't go by their ratings, ultimately they are the brokers who will just hire the cheapest possible moving company to move your stuff. The moving company is NOT bothered about the reputation of the company they hire. They are not bothered if your stuff is lost /stolen / damaged!

In our case they hired "Air 1 Moving & Storage" to move our stuff. You don't need an investigation to figure that "Air 1 Moving & Storage" is worst company ever! Just visiting their Yelp page to read about their exceptionally bad reviewed and unethical practices of writing good reviews about themselves -north-hollywood-3
We never chose "Air 1 Moving & Storage" to move our stuff. If we were given a choice, we would have never hired them to move the stuff. Now you can not just wash your hands away by blaming it on "Air 1 Moving & Storage". Your comment that - "you are just a broker and not responsible to damage" is of no good either.

Insurance - We were convinced by Mr. Christian of The Moving Company that any loss will be covered by our home insurance. When we tried to claim our loss from home insurance they told us that damage or loss done by movers and packers are their responsibility and home insurance will not cover it. They gave me an alternative to file a police report about the lost item as being stolen by my movers and packers and then claim the insurance. I didn't file the police complaint because I felt the box was lost and not stolen .. Had "the moving company" advised us about the insurance we would have gone for a better insurance to cover our move !

We all mess up sometimes or the other and few things are unavoidable .. but what is more important is what we do about it..running away from your responsibilities is just not acceptable ! I tipped your staff and gave them water even when they had lost and damaged my stuff...all in good faith.. and what did we get? A settlement of 100$ which had I accepted, I would have to remove all the bad reviews, complaints etc. You know what, I refused to settle, you can keep my 100$ but I will get this story out in the public so that people can make informed decisions, learn from our mistakes and don't suffer like we did !

Unprofessional and unethicalby Arshad K.

I obtained a quote and, after numerous phone discussions and quotes (as well as updated quotes), placed an order for a move from San Jose to San Diego. It was clearly and numerous times made clear that the moving cost quoted was FIXED and not dependent on weight.

The mover arrived on the scheduled date (August 27, 2014). He reviewed the inventory, which was as had been described, and demanded more than 50% of what had been agreed up. I asked him to move on as I was not going to be held hostage to this situation. When he saw that he was dealing with a customer who was not going to be forced into paying $1,100 extra, he started to negotiate. He continued to reduce the price till I agreed, which was still $500 over the agreed cost. The verbal agreement was delivery within 48 hours. However, the actual delivery was made on September 5th.
When the mover arrived in San Diego, they had misplaced the King bed's nuts and bolts and, therefore, were unable to assemble it. Despite numerous phone calls and e-mails, no action was taken to fix the installation problem. It was finally fixed 9 days after the delivery was made. In other words, the bed was not assembled for 2 weeks after the promised delivery date.

The damages to the good that were delivered included the headboard of a very expensive bad that cost $9,000. I filed a claim for the headboard (cost $1199) and a damaged lamp ($200). They came back with an insulting reimbursement of $60 (yes, sixty dollars).

I have now filed a small claims lawsuit as A1 Moving has stonewalled and refused to reconsider reimbursing me adequately.
