Terrible Customer Serviceby Dan A.

All these guys care about is money - once they have it, you're nothing to them. My things arrived on time, but when they broke a few of my things and lost some others, I filed a claim against them. Nothing major was broken, but I still wanted to settle for something. However, note the moving date, and the date of this post. They still haven't settled this. This is what's pushed me over the edge. I'd rather people know the incompetence of their customer service, and realize that they will drag you along in the settlement process in order to not pay you, than settle for a few pennies of the cost of what was broken.

Delayed Delivery Damage Goodsby Teresa G.

I chose this company because they pride themselves on having their own agents (non-brokers) and their own drivers. Moreover, the reviews were good. Alex, my agent was personable and seemed trustworthy. Agent lives in California. My move was from St. Paul, MN to Dallas, TX. When the movers arrived they pulled up in a North American Movers van (a different company). The driver, Nickolaus (Nick), was friendly and so was his assistant, Trey. From talking to them, they do the North to South moves for NRVL. They live in Minnesota and Iowa. Once they arrived, Nick phoned three locals guys to come help. These are not employees of the company. I believe Nick is contracted with NRVL and he hires his own guys to ride with him and help him out (back ground checks?). The move took longer than anticipated (10am-6pm). They also had to make a run to get a chain for his truck and I followed them to the weigh station. I didn't get home until 8:30pm.

They packed all the furniture and fragile items. We left some of the heavier items (two treadmills) and the weight was still higher than estimated, 5,000 lbs over what Alex estimated for the move (13,000 vs 8,000lbs). Hence, the cost was much higher than estimated, over $7,500 rather than $4,600.

We were overcharged for packing materials. We did all of the boxing of packable items. Nick charged over $450.00 for shrink wrap and tape. We used one or two of their boxes for lamps and some picture frames. I had boxes for all of my packable items. They left a box of trash and unused items (packing tape, stickers, etc). There were also cigarette ashes in my trash.

Pick up was on a Tuesday (3/17) and delivery was supposed to be the following weekend. I received a call from Nick Friday saying his truck broke down. He said he was unable to deliver that weekend and would deliver following weekend. He called later in the week to say he would deliver Monday. Monday did not work for us, we were out of town. We contacted Phyllis (customer service) and she said it would be delivered Friday. Friday we received a call from a storage company. They said they had our stuff and they would be delivering the goods (no one told us they had moved our stuff to storage). Moreover, they told us delivery would be Saturday (4/4 -the day before Easter). They arrived Saturday afternoon and were there until almost midnight. They had a small truck and had to make two trips to deliver. Upon delivery, there were missing screws needed to put together the Master bedroom, missing pieces to put together storage shelves, there also was a broken (shattered computer screen) Apple computer, broken bunk bed frames, and other damaged goods.

Movers lack expertise, professionalism, organization, and promptness.
