DON'T USE SUNSHINE STATE MOVINGby Brittany W.

To start, never ever pick the cheapest company out of a list of many quotes. If the deal is too good to be true, then IT IS. You'll pay the price by losses, damages, or being forced to pay extra for meaningless things not previously mentioned. Sunshine State Moving is definitely one of those vile, horrible companies that sap you of money AND belongings. So, I had already moved to California, from Florida, with some of my things to be able to live and start my new job. The rest were at my boyfriend's grandparent's house, in Florida. Getting my quote, buying their service, and getting them to the Florida address in a timely manner was all easy enough and went smoothly. But when they arrived at the grandparent's house, that's when it went downhill. They told them they needed to pay an extra couple hundred dollars, when it was originally supposed to be about 420. They did this because they needed to wrap up all of our items, and that "there was more than what was on the inventory sheet". Luckily they didn't have to pay that amount right away, and was added to the balance that me and my bf had to pay. Now it gets worse, they apparently didn't leave the state for NEARLY ONE MONTH due to "trucks being stuck in bad weather up north". Why were they up north in the first place when it was a Florida-California shipment? They never told us this, until after we called and emailed them many times, often being referred to other people over and over, or being put on hold for awhile (often without picking up again). During this time they held our items in storage, something we never wanted or asked for. Finally a month and a half after pickup, they deliver our items. They were supposed to give me 24 hours notice before hand. They gave me 2 HOURS notice. Which meant having to leave work early and unexpectedly. They placed all my boxes and things in the apartment, sometimes stacking the boxes which crusehd each other. Some things were damaged, most things extremely dirty as if muddy water splashed on them. Charged us extra $75 as our ONE flight of stairs somehow counted as TWO due to the amount of steps. Me and my bf soon realized our most prized posessions were missing (guitar amp, game system, othe pricey electronics). The movers let us search their truck for boxes labeled with a certain colored sticker, but we found nothing Oh yeah, they also offered to give us some unlabeled items (paintings, kid toys and such). Proof right there that they mislabel things. What we received didn't match their precious inventory list which they swore by. After they left we contacted the company over and over about this and spoke to Yury, who searched the storages that they used (or claimed to) and couldn't find our items, and told us to file a claim. We did, and they are only offering us $10.20 as settlement for the roughly $1600 worth of items lost. This is still happening, we plan to dispute this and possibly SUE them. They have caused us nothing but stress and frustration. I chose them as my moving company in late Nov. 2012, it is now March 2013 and still having trouble with them. Please, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR TIME OR MONEY! They definitely don't deserve either.
