Missing presumed John N.

I got hooked up to this moving company after being duped by a broker. That alone is another story that I am now legally bound to say nothing about after they gave me a refund.
Most of my money went to Home Safe, in cash after my belongings were held ransom. Now I've had the refund I actually feel it was a reasonable price for a small shipment of 540 cubic feet ie, very near the one I agreed to in the quote. I had the same experience as the 1star reviews below. Hiked up prices, 36 hours late arriving, stuff damaged and boxes crushed (thankfully only clothes in them) etc etc. My stuff was transferred to a warehouse too and that seems to be where damage occurs.
Shaun was the driver who inflated the amount of cubic feet (even though our original booking was in pounds) and almost doubled the price (when the brokers estimate was about 20% under and would have been acceptable).
Nicole, although very nice, never calls back and from what I can see, does nothing but placate irate and exasperated callers.
However, the shipment arrived in a very timely manner, within the 15 estimated days.
That's when the nightmare started again. Missing stuff...a mountain bike and a step ladder were obvious, the box with everything of great value (that they had packed) was not so obvious until after we started to unpack later that day. Because of the way they rushed the unloading, bundled items, either not numbered the items and packed boxes within boxes, it was impossible to check against their itemized list...which I had been forced to sign when they arrived or they wouldn't have opened the van doors. The driver then refused to put pen to paper and left after not noting the missing items.
Now we are left with the battle to get payment for the stuff that went missing, the bike, the ladder, jewelry, medication, iphones. They shouldn't have even seen all the small and valuable stuff as it was hidden in a small dresser that was wrapped and packed 'as is.' It's hard to not think that these items were purposely taken.
But I remain optimistic, 4 weeks after the move 'Mike' (or Moshe?) has just assured me they are still searching the warehouse and if things are not found they will put in an insurance claim on my behalf. We will see. If the things are found, returned, recovered...whatever, I will be overjoyed.
The perfect outcome would be that we just get our stuff.
Money is not what we want out of this but it will have to do if the things can't be recovered.
Watch this space...I will edit this review and let you all know the outcome.
I'd add an image but it's hard to photograph something you don't have.
