Awful company! Broken heirloom table left for me to clean. Items unmoved and left behind. Tardy and 3 hours of time where they were missing during commute from my old place to my new. I was left half moved with a mess. When I communicated the issues Eric chewed me out, accused me of trying to scam them and hung up on me. Bizarre and unprofessional experience overall resulting in me losing over a grand for a service not provided.

Blankenship Movers Reviews - 3
We moved the end of September and I chose Blankenship because they supposedly specialize in moving pianos. Every large piece of furniture had some level of damage, and they lost the hardware to put our queen size bed frame together. Most distressing were the scratches and and chips to the gloss black finish on our piano.
The real problem was afterward. The team had done significant damage to our new walls. We were told prior to move that the basic insurance would cover everything. Now we are told we should have taken out more insurance. But that insurance is for damage to furniture, not to the home. Attached are some photos of the damage done by Blankenship movers, which they had promised to fix but now refuse to take responsibility for. MAKE SURE YOU READ ALL OF THE REVIEWS (SOME ARE NOT VISIBLE-CLICK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE YELP REVIEW PAGE FOR THE NON-RECOMMENDED REVIEWS) BEFORE SIGNING A CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY.
If you have already made the mistake of scheduling with them, make sure you take out the additional insurance. Eric, the manager, will tell you it is not necessary: that the basic insurance will cover any incidental damage; this is not true. If anything happens during your move, he will tell you that he is not liable for damage; that you signed a contract and declined the additional insurance, even thought he told you verbally it was not necessary. My husband tried for months to get him to send someone out to fix the damage. Eric went back and forth with excuses as to why his contractor would not return calls and then he just forgot about it. We ended up fixing the damage using a family friend who is a handyman in the northern suburbs.
I called Eric 3 months after our move, to ask where our payment was for the damage incurred. We ended up having the damage fixed on our own because Eric never sent out a contractor and forgot about us, after he told my husband the damage was extreme and extraordinary and he wanted to make good so we wouldn't give him a bad Yelp review. He was angry I called, said he did not have time to talk to me. I said it had been 3 months, the invoice was sent to him a month ago; when would it ever be a good time to discuss the problem. He was rude, although he told me I was rude to him. I said I was not being rude, I was frustrated in his refusal to make good on his promises. (Make sure you get all of his "promises" in writing. He changes his story regularly.) Eric said he would not talk to me and said he would talk in a few days and then he hung up on me.
We have nothing to gain from writing a bad review. We expected good service, paid for it, and did not receive it. We just want to make sure that someone else does not have to go through what we went through in working with this disreputable company.
Note: To this day, Eric has not made good on his promise to fix the damage, noting that WE are in the wrong and he did nothing bad. He is incensed that we would write a bad review and wrote a nasty return comment about us. IS THAT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE? He has yet to even make a small effort in good faith to cover the damage. He has not offered a dime. NOTHING. His "extra" insurance covers damage to furniture (which we have a lot of but are not asking for any of that to be fixed, including the gouge out of our piano, which their company is supposed to be experts at moving and the reason we chose them), not to the home.
movers scheduled to arrive between 2-5 pm showed up at 745pm loaded truck went to new residence. driver did not know how to park truck & since they were so late street parking situation was different than it would have been had they been on time. since driver couldn't navigate he insisted on taking belongings to overnight storage facility which charged an additional $150 since my stuff already in truck had no choice. they came back next day & charged an additional $85 delivery charge which i already paid delivery charge for prior day & they charged an additional hour moving fee. they broke a lamp & scratched a dresser. this is not a professional moving company. its not about the customer its about how much the owner, eric, can take advantage of a situation to put more money in his pocket
