Worst movers ever! I have moved 12 times in my career, around the US and overseas. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had. I could write an entire book, but here is the short version: It started well with Mark coming and asking good questions and giving a quote. I had a few items that needed special services and he seemed to know what to do. Then it all went downhill fast from there. The packers were late. It took twice as long to pack and load as they estimated. The specialty movers came and what they were told was dramatically different than what Mark looked directly at and quoted. HMS called my company to try to up their quote with some BS reason....little did they know I sit across the hall from the HR Director.
Turns out they lied in the beginning about how fast they could deliver from storage. Once a date was finally agreed upon, I arrived at my new home (in Missouri) early one morning to meet the truck as promised, only to get a call a couple hours later that "the truck broke down somewhere in Kentucky" and that it would take a few days to get parts. Some checking revealed it was a total lie, as the truck had never left Boston. Once they finally did arrive, the crew rushed through everything, finishing in the dark, and disappearing so fast it wasn't funny. The boxes were grossly over packed, some items were missing, and I had more broken stuff in this move then all my other moves combined, times 10.
When I called about the claims process, I started getting the runaround. Soon no one would answer the phone, and I tried every extension repeatedly. Over several weeks, I called more than 40 times. Finally I went to straight to North American. North American wouldn't honor the promises HMS made, but they did make good on a fair amount of the damage (I hadn't noted the damage to my walls before the movers ran off), writing me checks for more than $4000. HMS is no longer with North American....you should check how often they switch franchises.
In my opinion, Keith Orlandella is a crook and runs a shady operation. I would not ever do business with HMS again.
