What a nightmare and a complete waste of money !! by Lisa G.

NIGHTMARE moving experience.... I contacted Joey for my move after seeing so many positive reviews, he was prompt and seemed informative, my boyfriend and I decided to save a little money and move much of my things in our own starting a week before this scheduled move. I had mentioned to Joey we may not get it all done he assured me we had a 26 foot truck so it shouldn't be a problem if we need to add more into the move. Having back issues we didn't get all the boxes moved beforehand so asked the movers to load some boxes, which they did. We had them all in the garage and the movers showed up took about 30 minutes to walk around and look at what needed to be moved. They didn't even attempt to pick up a box or move anything as they walked in and out of my home so I told my boyfriend we had better get started moving everything to the moving truck to get this thing going. Seems to me as soon as the two moving kids saw this it was their opinion they could just kick back, instead of using the hand truck and moving several boxes at once they slowly grabbed one box at a time and hand carried them to the moving truck. I was a bit shocked at how little they did. I was determined to get this done so I myself (with a back injury) kept moving smaller things to the moving truck. They pretty much both stayed in the truck chatting while they loaded what we brought to them
Now note I moved from California less than a year ago with ALL of my belongings in a 26 foot truck such as they had. They loaded one row of boxes to the top, they moved my sofa out to the truck and put it on and took it off several times it's like they had no idea how to load the truck! Fast forward to their maybe loading 1/3 of what needed t be loaded then telling me that's about it. They were ladies and ready to go, just loading the truck FAR exceeded the time allowed for the entire move!!! It was a HOT day here in Mo. No question but they didn't even attempt to get my items on the truck. They had no clue how to fit my furniture in so they just loaded my metal tables and sofa, beds, etc and said they couldn't fit ANY more on the truck!!! They hadn't even gotten my washer or dryer OR the recliners. I could lol in the back of the truck and see tons of space. But they told me the glass cabinet they loaded was fragile and they couldn't put anything around it. I insisted many times that they take that tiny cabinet out then and let ME move it. It could fit in my tiny SUV simple as I have moved it myself that way, they completely ignored me
I had my boyfriend move my larger truck close and asked them to put the washer and dryer in. They did one u it and said that was it. Again they were done. They refused to try to load my other u it in my truck! My boyfriend came out and asked them kindly and wow, amazing they actually did it!!! They also weren't going to load my recliners until my man told them it would fit. So they loaded them in their truck and said again that was it. They were headed off to lunch that was suppose to be "off the clock" and they left. I looked around in horror knowing it would take us several extra days to get the items they refused to even attempt to load. Got to my new home and they showed up 30 minutes later I had called Joey and discussed how badly things were going. Suddenly the two movers were able to carry several boxes at once and actually started to work, this was well over the time allotted for the move. I was starting to have hope but then that was dashed by them asking for EVERY single box they brought in "we're does this go"
Really? I had taken white paper, 8 x 10 and had CLEARLY marked with BOLD black ink what room it was to go in. Instead of 3 1/2 hours which I was quoted this move took 7 hours!!!!! And a week later we are STILL moving boxes clearly marked BASEMENT from upstairs, half of my boxes were just dropped off in rooms they didn't belong these kids didn't even attempt to get it right!
I was told by Joey they would take off an hour from the move. Well they got me coming and going because the way they billed it they made me pay for their 30 minute lunch break
It also took us several more days to move from my old place which ended up costing me more and more money I have NO IDEA why this company was so well reviewed, they were cheaper by the hour than other companies in this area but they screwed us over big time. I also called Joey and told him my stainless steel refrigerator had been dented on the front and on the side as well as my very expensive sofa was damaged with permanent marks on the fabric! I would never use them again
This move was a nightmare that ended up costing me double what they quoted

I was dreading the move until these movers showed up. They made the move fun!! They were on time, worked very fast but careful to load my stuff, and were very pleasant. They would run up the stairs to get another load, and singing while they work. I wished I had it on video because it was a phenomenal experience.
I never knew anyone in my life who was happy when you said the dreaded four letter word "MOVE" and these guys pleasantly surprised me. They actually enjoyed their job and it showed. The teamwork was coordinated perfectly and it was so obvious they knew what they were doing. Tremendous thanks to Marlon and Dewan for a superb job. Call them - you won't be disappointed!!

Superb Service & Price!by Cynthia J.

I initially found My Mountain Movers (MMM) on and then did a Google search as well to view their website. About 3 weeks before the move, I contacted MMM and spoke with the owner, Tony. Based upon the other quotes I had received, he was $10 per hour cheaper than his competitors. The only thing I didn't quite like which I found to be common in the KC metro area is that movers in KC Metro charge a one-time flat truck/transportation fee generally the same rate as the per hour fee. But since the other companies I contacted had the same type of one-type fee, there's not much I could do with it except go with it instead of causing a fuss. As many times as I have moved, I know almost exactly how many boxes and what I need since I'm quite the minimalist in regards to furniture and "stuff".

Side-note: This was my 19th move in 15 years!! No, I'm not joking. I've moved myself, have had family helped and have hired numerous professional movers for local moves.

I was moving from a 1st floor apartment in OP to a walk-out basement in a home/residential neighborhood 15 miles east in SKC. It turned out that the new roommate that was taking over my lease needed to move sooner than my original move date. This happened very quickly since I was out of town at the time. I called Tony 3 days before the date I needed to change it too. He called me back within 10 minutes and said they could change it from April 2 to March 25th. I told him I would have the majority of my things packed like we had originally discussed 3 weeks ago, and I confirmed the guys would call me before arriving at my apartment.

The night before the move, I got sick from side effects from some medication I'm taking from a car wreck. Since I'm single with no friends or family nearby, I had no help to help me pack my things prior to the movers arriving since I was out of town prior to the moving date. I called Tony, unfortunately, 4-5 hours before the scheduled move the day-of and notified and apologized to him that I would be unable to pack my things like we originally discussed. He called me back and left me a voicemail that it would be NO PROBLEM, add'l boxes would be packed, and it would not be an issue for the guys to pack my items and restated the hourly rate. I understood that morning, my original quote would go up but at the time based upon how I was feeling, I really had no other choice. I packed what I could and left it at that.

The employees, Scott & Quinton, called me 20 minutes before arriving and gave me their 'estimated' arrival time based upon traffic. They arrived EXACTLY at the time they gave me over the phone. They had uniforms on (Khaki pants and polo shirts), no sagging pants, were extremely professional, spoke fluent English (no communication gap - woohoo!) were polite and friendly to me the entire time. I gave them the initial walk-through and then they began to work. They were great at asking me questions if they were unsure instead of just tossing random things in random boxes. Despite their age (early 20s), they were the most politest moving men, I have dealt with in over 5 years! They packed my huge TVs and computer items VERY well and cleaned up their mess at the end. When we arrived at the new place, we did another walk-through and they quickly got to work unloading and setting up. Since I'm unable to lift items over 10 lbs, they did NOT get an attitude or were rude when I asked them to move an item 2-3 times so I could get it in the best spot for its function. Quinton & Scott asked me several times as they were wrapping up to ensure I didn't need anything else rearranged since they understood my circumstances from the wreck I'm recovering from. Scott was very detailed and answered any questions I had when going over the receipt with me.

The final amount came in at $135 above budget BUT this was due to my own fault of being sick and not being able to pack myself before they arrived like what was originally discussed & planned in addition to the extra boxes being used as well. I am SO GRATEFUL Tony, Quinton & Scott were able to work with me on my last minute changes (date change, packing changes, more boxes needed, additional time to pack, etc) related to my move.

I highly recommend My Mountain Movers to ANYONE especially single people who don't have help from friends or live near family. You will feel safe and comfortable with My Mountain Movers. They are a very professional yet personable crew. They are the BEST IN KC METRO!

I will use them again by Cynthia H.

One Mountain Movers very friendly, I got a flat rate. Asked all the right questions, gave me fee breakdowns. Helped me with date changes. Everything was done within the time frame they gave me. They disconnected and connected my washer and dryer. I will use them again if I have another move, and I would suggest them to other people.

They were quick and efficientby Kindra M.

I went with My Mountain Movers and they were efficient from the the beginning. I called to inquire and they called me back. I continued to call them at various times with questions and they were always prompt to return my phone calls. They were on time on the day of the move. They took good care and wrapped everything being mindful that they would not break or harm the walls in moving. They were quick and efficient. The quote they gave me was pretty much right on the mark with the timing of the whole process. I would highly recommend them. Their prices are great comparatively speaking and I had checked in with other moving companies. They were courteous and prompt and efficient. Everything got there just as I had it. I would definitely recommend them.

very professionalby Bryan S.

I contacted Tony for an estimate and he contacted me that same night. The movers were very professional and put me at ease with everything before the move took place. The crew also showed up on time and was very professional during the moving process. It was a very quick move.

Great Experience. Professional Company

A very positive experience. Tony replied immediately to our move request, offered a very fair rate and professional crew. They moved quickly and even offered to help load items we were moving in our vehicles. I liked they offered a cap for the dollar amount of bill.

Nice folks, clean, decent, Al P.

I think you have a very friendly and effective group who moved prudently and with the customers' best interests in mind. If you can move a 876-pound safe so efficiently and without causing any damages, you can move anything else one can think of. I did call a couple of other movers before I called you. They told me it was too heavy for them. Your charge was also reasonable. Best of luck. Regards! AL

Best Moving Company in Kansas Cityby Anthony S.

They arrived right on time when they said they would. They loaded the truck for 45 minutes and they loaded more than we thought they would, including a few extra boxes that I had. They drove to the new place and unloaded us again in under an hour. The estimate was spot on, they were efficient and there was no damage to our stuff or any of our walls at the new place. This was our first experience moving with them and it was a good one!

Professional, Friendly and High Qualityby Jeremy K.

We didn't have any issues and they were very professional and friendly on the phone and via email. They confirmed their estimate with us and even matched others from competitors who came in lower. The guys were quick and friendly and aside from very minor damage to a dresser, it was a pretty smooth move.
