We selected these movers based on cost, and the way they handled the quote when we first called them. What a mistake!!
The first thing that happened was a missing item. A $1200 Gucci handbag, that was in it's original packing, and was lying in the corner of the living room as we had brought it to the house along with other valuables the day before. This was there before the movers entered the house and then not there anymore after they left. Nobody else entered the house during that period except myself and my husband. The movers had been in that room taking blankets off furniture and removing the cardboard box around our TV. This packaging was then all bundled up and moved into the truck. We only noticed later in the day that it had gone after the movers had left. This is a statement of facts, you read from that what you will.
We called the police and reported this. When we called the moving company, we did not receive the response we should have. We had to make 5-6 phone calls explaining the situation and kept being told that a manager will call us back, but it was 2 days before that happened. At that time, we spoke to someone who claimed they were a manager but was extremely rude and unhelpful, and said they hadn't taken it and we were making allegations. We finally got a phone call from the owner, who said he would follow-up on the issue.
The second thing that happened was that our baby's crib was dismantled and reassembled incorrectly. They were not even supposed to dismantle the crib!! They also left huge scratches on the crib, and there were 2 screws missing. We demanded that someone come out and fix the crib properly, and they were sent later that day. While this person was at the house, we showed him some of the other damage. There was a huge scratch on the side of a bookshelf, which the movers tried to hide by placing it on its end. The representative who was at our house agreed this could not have been there before otherwise the movers would have pointed it out before they started the move. Additionally, Parts of the bed frame were missing, another bookshelf had been chipped, among other small scratches and dents and missing screws. When we mentioned all this to the owner, he then started questioning how many times we had previously moved the furniture which is why screws were missing.
Then we realized that a piece of the closet had also been left on the truck. They then sent the foreman from our move to our house to deliver the piece of closet that had been left on the truck, along with his pregnant wife!!, who then told us he had been suspended from his job because the police had investigated him as a result of our report!! I'm not sure what the purpose of this was!
When we asked for a claim form for all the damage, each time we were told they would email it, but it took a week before we received it.
All in all, what should have been a pleasant first week in our new dream home, turned into a veritable nightmare, all because of this moving company. Save yourself the hassle, pay a little extra for someone who is reputable, and knows what they are doing!!
