Affiliated Movers of OKC Inc. Reviews - 1

Stole my belongings then lied about Ashley B.

The men who moved my things were polite and efficient- Affiliated Movers had hired Arpin Vanlines for the actual labor. However when the men left I realized that my iPhone dock was missing (about $100)- when I called to report it I was told that they had packed it. I had to drive an hour across town to pick it up. It did not have a numbered sticker on it. Later that night I discovered that my Dewalt drill (about $220) was also gone- and again they said they had 'packed' it. My inventory listed every single box 'Packed By Owner', no items like the drill or dock were listed. When I told them they would have to mail it to me, they said they would charge me for the shipping. I refused the charge, and when I got my drill the actual bit was missing. A small thing but it makes the drill useless. It also did not have a numbered item sticker on it. When I called to speak with an office manager, I was informed that I was rude to accuse them of stealing; when I stated that I am a teacher and I'm trained to not let things get by me, I was told I was obviously a snob and felt they were below me as 'movers'.
After two months of storage- they were supposed to deliver the first week of August- they told me they would deliver August 18th. I hired another company to pick my belongings up from them, as I was going to be out of town at that time. When the new company arrived- I notified Affiliated Movers that they were coming- I was told they weren't ready and I would have to pay an overnight fee while they retrieved my cargo containers.
Finally I received my belongings on August 5th- but I had to hire a second company to do so. This means that any insurance I paid to either company could be written off, as both companies could accuse the other of the broken items.
What bothers me the most is that Affiliated Movers repeatedly told me that the items had been 'packed'- though they were never listed on my inventory nor did they have red, numbered item stickers. They never apologized for the incident. The sales man who assisted me went in on the weekend to find the items- which I appreciated- but shouldn't have been an issue in the first place.
Finally, I was highly insulted by how they treated me when I called. They responded to every email but to no more of my calls after that day.
They made this entire moving situation- already difficult- an incredible nightmare. I blame Arpin Vanlines for the actual theft, but also Affiliated Movers for hiring them and not taking responsibility for them, in addition to how they treated me over the phone. I will never, never recommend them.
They charged me for the pick up and two months of storage.
When I emailed Affiliated Movers to give them my final destination address, it took over a week for them to let me know that they couldn't make the delivery the first week of August. I had about 8 hours after their default to find another company who could make the delivery Affiliated Movers had originally promised but would not make. I found one, but ended up adding almost $1500 to my overall moving costs. Now I'd like to file a claim for three missing boxes but who am I to file with?
(The receipt date is different because they had to re-figure my estimate)
