It is really hard to rate these people, on one hand they did a great job, all of them were very polite, professional, and helpful. The lead person did get a bit grumpy towards the end, but they did run into an unexpected issue. They probably should have checked out the place I was moving to and adjusted the size of the truck, they could not take the truck to the front of my home, they had to park it at the bottom of the hill, and carry everything up the street (I live one house back from the bottom of the hill. I'm guessing that contributed to the grumpiness of the lead person, the rest of the time they were very nice. He did try to talk me out of doing an inventory, but that was part of the agreement and I'm glad I stuck to my guns. If that were all that happened I would have rated them excellent. Unfortunately, as I interviewed movers, and I did a lot of checking and familiarized myself with the laws, one thing I wanted is that since my moving truck had to be packed one day and delivered the next, I wanted (as was recommended to me) to have the truck in a locked warehouse not just locked and sitting in a lot. When they said they could not do that, I moved on to the next one, then I got a call the next day and they assured me they could do it. When I researched them, unlike others they had only one complaint which I felt was reasonable (someone had a leaking truck that damaged their goods, but since I would be in a locked warehouse that would not be a problem), they also followed the legal requirements, others were clearly doing things they were not suppose to, example, the requirements for my move is to charge by the pound, not the hour, anything illegal is a red flag to me. I did my due diligence, I watched them weigh the truck, and I followed them to the warehouse, except, it was not a warehouse, it was parked in their lot. I spoke to the manager and they knew nothing about storing it in the warehouse and said it was not possible. I had them call the sales person, and the story changed, it was possible except they had an extra shipment of mattresses that came in, so they could not follow through with their agreement. Obviously I had no options at that point, I spent a very sleepless night wondering what else would go wrong. But as I said, everything else was good. I really hesitated about answering yes to recommend the mover to a friend, to me their failure to honor their commitment, especially when they knew darn good and well I could do nothing about it is a red flag, so at least I would let my friend know what happened. If I had to move again, I guess bottom line, if their word is not good I would not go with them again. But I do want to make it clear, otherwise, they were great to work with. I strongly recommend that you make sure you get an approved mover, check out all the laws, and then go to the extra trouble of following through with all recommendations. I also recommend that you have several assistants, I was alone so while I stood there and checked off the inventory, I could not monitor where they were putting things, they did ok with that, but would have saved me some work if I could have caught some things. I relied on my homeowners insurance, I would never rely on just the free insurance, I'm not sure if I would have been better off insuring with them. Moving is not fun and anyway you look at it, you are in a very vulnerable position.
