I was given a quote for 300 cu ft for $1695 (which includes $195 fuel).; when "shared" truck showed up I was told that I had only 190 cu ft & was being surcharged for additional 100 cu ft. for an additional $500 & additional fuel surcharge of $260. The men "measured" my space by banging on the sides of the truck. Delivery was supposed to have been by the end of the month, but they didn't arrive until 10/8. Items/boxes are missing; some boxes were unsealed, rummaged through and re-taped. Nearly all of the boxes looked like they had been thrown down numerous flights of stairs, there is an oily substance that had been spilled on the boxes which seeped into them, ruining items. Everything that contained glass or mirrors is broken.

They came in a truck with maximum capacity of 1611 cubic foot and claimed that it was 1900 cubic foot !!!! On top of that, my stuff filled less than 80% of the space of the truck. They then billed me for 1900 cubic foot and refused to refund me for the vast discrepancy in cubic footage and price by claiming that I already signed for on their inflated price.
Original estimate of $5700 became $9000 after loading because of the vast overstatement in the amount of cubic footage they claimed my stuff took up (see point 1 above)
They promised on phone that they move everything themselves and don't subcontract it out. But in reality, my stuff was moved by a different moving company.
They promised on phone that they use their own trucks for all moving. But they showed up at my house in a UHaul truck.
Before the move, I gave them a very exhaustive list of items. I was given a quote of $5728 for my 3 bed apt. I was told that they charge by the cubic-foot and that my volume was 1218 cubic foot. On the day of the move, as soon as the foreman entered my apartment, he looked at my packed items and declared that it is likely around 1800 cubic foot and that it will cost an additional $2500. Since I was not familiar with how much volume is my stuff, I couldn't argue back against that new volume estimate of 1800. But I knew in my gut that something is wrong since the phone estimate was for 1218 cubic foot and there is no way my stuff would be 50% over estimate. But I went with them since I had to vacate my apt and also because they threatened over the phone that they will charge me cancellation fees if I backed out.
Another big red flag was that they came in a UHaul truck to pick up the items !!! It was a 26 foot truck from UHaul. You can google "UHaul 26 foot truck" and you will reach a UHaul webpage that confirms what I am telling next.
Now, when the loading was complete, the foreman declared that the total cubic foot was 1900 and that the new total charge is some $9200 (1900 x $4.25 per cubic foot + diesel surcharge). And he rounded it down to $9000. I had to pay up since they already had my stuff. Please remember that my stuff didn't even fill this 1611 cubic-foot truck. It was perhaps 80% full with my stuff. Remaining was some free space as well as some dollies and stuff that the movers brought. So I estimate that in reality, my actual volume was some 1300 cubic-foot OR LESS.
After they left the apartment, I went online and googled 'UHaul 26 foot truck' and a UHaul webpage came up which confirmed my worst fears. The UHaul link stated that the maximum capacity of the truck was only 1611 cubic feet. I called up UHaul and they said that even 1611 is tough to use since there are some corners etc.
The moment that I read the UHaul website data, I felt like I had been punched in my stomach and face. I went through a serious depression. Even to this day, I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night because my heart is beating so loudly because of the stress of losing thousands of dollars.
PS. I did call the advanced moving company the next day. They flat out said that since I signed on the dotted line, the are legally within their rights to not refund anything. But they did admit that the truck they brought has a maximum capacity of 1611 cubic feet.
These guys are the worst!!! They are fraudsters... There may have been good reviews in the past. But now it has gone worst. So anyone looking at good reviews, please look at when it was. All the recent reviews are horrible and I am one of those who fell a pray looking at old reviews.
Once money was taken, thats it... No response to my emails.. No picking up calls and when they do, the worst ever customer interaction experience. David Green (John) who is the primary fraudster working there, will pretty much yell at you.
I shipped my stuff from Norwood MA to Houston TX on July 26th and gave them an address to deliver on 29th July. So are they have brought stuff in two installments most of it broken and still have 21 boxes missing. The worst situation is that they have no answers for these 21. They are not confirming if it is missing or its available and will come... It is an easy fraud scheme right? They insurance is 60 cents per pound per item. So all the expensive items, they just "lose"... Eg: My 42" HD LED TV is missing in one of the boxes... Lets say it weighs 20 pounds, they have just have to pay $ 12. Simple... They just bought a $500 TV for $12... They chose all expensive items and stole them and keep quite and don't respond to emails or phone calls. The idea is sooner or later you will give up... So my sincere request is please please please... don't waste your money and go through the mental stress... Its suicide to go with these guys.
