Bailey's Moving & Storage Reviews - 2

Poor serviceby

Scheduling, pick up, and first of two deliveries went without a problem. Would have resulted in five stars. But final delivery was a problem. On Friday night, the driver texted us that delivery would be on Easter Sunday. We later found out that Easter Sunday was off limits for delivery by Allied policy. Only problem, the loading dock in our building was not open then. The driver offered two alternatives: he would park on the street and dump our stuff there, or he would take it back to North Carolina with him as he had an appointment on Monday to have his truck in the shop. Had to search and find the only storage unit in Philadelphia nearby with Easter Sunday hours and have the delivery there. Cost me over $800 to have it delivered to me from the storage unit by another mover. Bailey's would not take responsibility as they said the driver told them he offered me a Saturday delivery time, which he did not. I talked to the driver on Saturday and he was in Columbia MD making a delivery. Very poor service, and dishonest driver.

My initial experience with Allied was ok. Brian L came to do an estimate. I thought he was very knowledgeable and professional. The other company that came to give an estimate gave more helpful details (eg. getting credit for propane tanks, moving car carriers are cheaper, etc), but overall I was pleased. As the move approached, I had to call our relocation specialist, Karen, to confirm that everything was still a go. The packers arrived and got right to work. It's a little alarming having two unknown men come into your home and start going through your stuff, but I felt they were efficient and hardworking. The movers came the next day and before they got there we discovered our bathroom vanity had not been packed by the packers. We called our relocation contact and she called us right back. The movers packed this stuff and it wasn't a big deal. We did hear some grumblings from the movers about their frustration with the packers job. I was a little apprehensive about the movers care with our stuff. One guy tried to lift our HE washer onto a dolly by himself without any supportive bands around the machine and it tipped forward and jumbled around a bit. He knew I was watching the whole time and smiled and said, "Whoa". We had planned to sell that washer once we were moved, but he didn't know this. Other than that I can't recall any items that were damaged or mishandled. The driver, Moe, was a little snarky and demanding when he first arrived, but after we got to know him he was a very jovial man with a great sense of humor. We very much enjoyed his personality and interaction with the other staff. On the other end (unloading), the Morse crew was great. Very personable and handled all of our items with care. I was most impressed with them (eg. gave helpful hints about the area, places to eat, etc.).

Thank you very much for your thorough and honest feedback! The packing process can be very nerve-racking and we apologize if your belongings were ever not handled with the utmost of care. We are glad your move was completed to your satisfaction and will take all your feedback to help continually improve our services.
Best Wishes,
Allied Van Lines
