"Moving is a Challenge"Review of Trans United
Overall, this firm did an acceptable job. Biggest challenges were getting to the right estimate and communication on delivery date/time. Original estimate based on inventory was ~ $5K between Naples, FL and Bethesda, MD. The final cost was $16K driven by original estimate at 850 cf and actual being 2425 cf. In addition, the full service pack cost quoted at $1/cf ended up being $2.6/cf due to what was considered a great deal of high value items (china, paintings, expensive furniture requiring special handling). This wasn't declared or discussed in the original estimate discussions. Net, the final cost was more than 3x the original estimate. The level of communication once the shipment was packed up and placed on the truck, was unsatisfactory. The sales/dispatch team did not have clear info on when the driver would be delivering our shipment. Once I was able to get the driver's contact information, I had much better knowledge on what was truly happening. That said, the delivery date moved from a Sun/Mon timing to the Fri of the same week with three scheduled expected delivery dates revised until the shipment finally arrived. The good news was the shipment arrived with very little damage and no theft. So while delivery week was a communication challenge, we did receive the shipment in good shape. I shared my frustration with lack of communication with Jason, the local manager. He was empathetic but did not always have good information to resolve the lack of communication. He did give me the drivers cell phone number and once that happened, I was communicating back to him on a daily basis with what was truth vs. what Michael their dispatch manager was able to provide to me.
