Terrible Service, Do Not Recommendby

Moving as we all know is a stressful situation, whether it is down the street or in my case across the USA.
This was a debacle from the start. I am disappointed in not only the customer service (or lack thereof), but the level of professionalism, quality of work, and results of service supplied. I entered into a contract with Home Team Movers on 9/27/13. This contract was supplied by Steve, via an email titled "Moving Estimate" and offered a Total Estimate of $1871.89. The contents of the email offered verification that this was a Binding Estimate (it was labeled as such and even presented a charge of $295 for the service of supplying a Binding Estimate). The Binding Estimate further offered an itemized explanation of charges, totaling 94 pieces.

I tried to call Home Movers and speak with the representative, Steve, about my questions and concerns about the estimate prior to pick up. He neglected to return my calls or even respond in email. After frustration set in and no one would answer my calls, I decided I was getting nowhere and waited for the movers to arrive.

When the movers arrived on 10/1/13, the contract suddenly changed. The estimated charges were suddenly projected at $2871.10. I am uncertain as to what changed? I tried contacting Steve, the person who initially gave the estimate, but of course he would not answer or return my calls. The movers configured the new estimate with no means of careful calculation in mind. There is no clear estimate of our inventory, when the truck showed up to our house it was by any means not empty. The truck was already crammed with other mover’s materials and inventory. Their calculation for the second estimate was to view the inventory and then view the space that was left in the truck.
As clearly as anyone can see there is no precise calculation here, therefore the estimate that was provided to us is not accurate by any stretch of the imagination. Again, back to my stated issue of how the new estimate was calculated. When I questioned the change in price I was told that the company’s computer always miscalculates and never estimates correctly.
This was not information that should have been shared to me and at that point my lack of satisfaction for the company immediately diminished. Again, the only reason for a revision to a completed and signed Binding Contract would be in the event that the project weight/volume varies from the actual, and this would not have occurred since we had less boxes and a couple of items to replace the boxes. Weight and volume should have come to no surprise to the movers. And, as I have already discussed, the presence of faulty computation equipment is of zero consequence to me.
Needless to say I wish my interaction with the company had stopped there, but it didn't. The company that picked up our shipment was not Home Team Movers. Home Team Movers and their representative, Steve, failed to tell us that they were just a broker. We were surprised once this different company showed up.
After receiving our shipment I decided to file a complaint with Home Team Movers. I emailed the complaint via their website and waiting for some type of response or reply. After 2 weeks of nothing, I decided I should call. This was yet a bad decision on my part. I was connected to a customer service representative where I began to tell him my situation. I explained my part with the company and the complaint that I submitted. He then began to tell me that only 7 people work in the office and that is probably why I never received a response to my complain. I find this information disturbing and not sufficient enough for myself.
I would warn any individual or business to do thorough research prior to going into business with Home Team Movers.
I have tried to contact the owner or anyone that works at the company and their email address are not in use. The owner refuses to respond to any of my attempts of communication.
