Colonial Van Lines Reviews - 3

Professional, communicative, responsible by

Job number 441579-CV-A

After getting multiple overpriced quotes and hiring one company that limited communication and not showing up for the initial pickup, I needed to find another moving company. Tracy and her team at Colonial were professional, able to respond and schedule quickly, and stayed in constant communication. After 3 months of trying to move and almost two additional months living in hotels, Colonial was able to deliver on their word and work. Thank you to all on Colonial's staff for making the final move much better.

Good Experience but do your researchby

I moved from Boston - L.A and Colonial Van Lines (CVL) did a solid job. And the costumer service was great at getting back to me quickly and answering questions, even though the delivery portion of my move was taking place literally during hurricane Irma and CVL's offices are in Florida. Their price was $1000 less than Allied or Mayflower which I liked.

Really the only reason I do not give 5 stars is as follows:

It is important to know CVL is a moving broker and MAY or MAY NOT be actually moving your stuff with their own trucks and movers. This means you should definitely ask your CVL customer service rep for the name of the subcontractor as soon as possible so you can look up reviews of their services. The subcontractor I had from my move was Cal Van Lines. I was originally was very stressed about my move as Cal Van Lines had pretty bad reviews online. Like pretty bad. My CVL rep said not to worry because their subcontractors are held to a higher standard when going through CVL. This put my mind at ease and Cal Van Lines did a decent Job. The driver called me the night before pick up and asked if he could come a day later as he was in Ohio and had a 10 hour drive to Boston. This wasn't doable for us as we were leaving the morning after pickup. The driver said OK and showed up next day only about 90 minutes after the originally scheduled time. They were great guys but were rough going down the stairs with our boxes, stacking them on a dolly and clunking the dolly down each step. Nothing was broken but about 85% percent of the furniture had some sort of scratch or gash on it. And thats why I give 4/5 stars.

In summary CVL was great and their price better than Mayflower and Allied, which I liked, but the subcontractor slightly damaged quite a bit of our furniture. Also make sure to get the driver's cell phone number so you can call for an update!

A good moving experienceby

Movers took great care with our possessions and this was probably the best moving experience of the many we've had. First time ever without damage! I would highly recommend this contractor to Colonial. Very pleased with the group and my contacts with Colonial. If you're considering moving, you should take a look at this company.
