We had them scheduled to arrive at 9. They didn't arrive or give us a call. I waited an hour before calling them REPEATEDLY before getting an answer. Apparently each one thought the other had called and let us know they would be late. They said it would be another 30 minutes. Again, they didn't show up in an hour and screened our calls and didn't answer once we called past the hour mark. They finally arrived at noon, 3 hours past the arrival time with not even a courtesy to call us. When we talked to them in person they said there is nothing they could do for us as compensation for the inconvenience when it was clearly their fault and lack of communication. He was short with us, as if it was our fault.
They packed up quickly, but only after the guy complained that he had somewhere to be later and didn't want to be late. Yeah, we had places to be too and everything was cancelled thanks to these two. Once they got here and everything was unloaded, they were asked to reassemble my bed. They did a shitty job of it. They lost the screws to the frame of the bed so they just laid the wood planks down without screwing them down. It wouldn't have been a big deal had they told me, but they didn't and I had to find it out later when I almost broke my bed because t was so unstable. Then the one guy came in and asked where each box went. Mind you, I did a tour of the house with him, showed him what rooms were what, and labeled every box to say kitchen, bedroom, kids room, playroom etc. I think he was illiterate bc I had to read each box for him which was a little ridiculous because I had a lot of unpacking to do. I should have just done it myself if I had to help him so much. Then they broke a storage cabinet which again isnt a big deal if they would have just told me about it. It wasn't that expensive but they literally tore it in two and lost the screws that went with it so I couldn't reassemble it if I wanted to.
I appreciate the fact hey moved the things so quickly. I know they have a hard job, but the lack of communication was awful and the fact they are lazy at putting things back together and lost screws for everything was inconvenient and rude to not say anything. Lying by omission is still lying. I wouldn't reccomend them to anyone. Stay far away from Happy Movers!
We are extremely sorry you are dissatisfied with the service you received.
It is always our intention to provide the best service. And we were then and now sorry for any inconveniences you had.
We would like to address your complaints individually, and then you and anyone else who reads this can make up their own minds as to how bad the move really was.
Communication: We did call you a few times to update our arrival time.
Late: We were late, we verified this by GPS. The truck arrived to your ex-husband’s house at 11:30 AM. Your scheduled arrival time was between 9 and 9.30 AM. We put a window on all arrival times because of the unexpected things that can happen on the road.
That day was Halloween, and there was some kind of parade/event that the truck got stuck in and couldn’t get around. That was a factor in the delay, but we were late and it was our fault no matter what. For that we are sorry. We apologized to you at that time too. The driver did not mean to be short with you, he was just frustrated that he was late. And wanted to get started since your ex-husband had already thrown all you stuff onto the driveway.
Bed Unstable: We are very sorry that the bed was put together improperly. That is highly unusual for us. The screws were not lost, it just looks like the guys were trying to hurry up for you and forgot. Sorry.
Damaged Cabinet: Your friend who you moved in with and who was also present at the load was told about the cabinet at the unload, when we discovered it. And she said, “Don’t worry about it, we weren’t going to use it anyway”. This was the over the toilet pressed wood type of cabinet. The men did not break it, the piece just fell apart. That is very common with those. They are made of saw dust and glue and covered with cheap laminate. In general, pressed wood items are poorly constructed and with all the water and heat in the bathroom, the joints became very weak. We are still sorry about it though.
Illiterate: Our movers are not illiterate. It’s just that your penmanship was difficult to read. The mover felt it was much better to ask you, than put the box in the wrong room. It shows that he really did care about your move.
Your move was estimated to take 5 hours. And we got it done in exactly 5 hours, with a 2nd stop and despite 150 boxes instead of 50 boxes. And the same mover who said was illiterate, was not complaining but was expressing his concern about getting home in time to take his 3 little girls Trick Or Treating, because it was Halloween. If the movers couldn’t have gotten it done in time he was supposed to call the office so we could send another mover out to replace him so he could be with his kids on Halloween. :)
