Pros: tech savvy company that allows you to set up an account on their website. Emails keep you informed of progress, you reply "confirmed" to an email the day before the move. Amir is very diligent about being responsive to phone calls and emails. Wrapping furniture, etc very well done, fragile items handled delicately, to my knowledge nothing broke, courteous staffers, a couple of whom could use a gym membership/physical therapy and all of whom require smoking cessation.
Cons: my move from a 1 br to another 1 br in a similar building less than a mile away wound up costing me an extra $1K and that was with a cash payment which garnered a 5% discount. Not to mention the expenses incurred due to needing to reschedule (blessedly the next morning, thank God, and heaven's saints).
The foreman-Josh was an hour late arriving (it's an ETA - emphasis on E for estimated). I repeatedly informed the movers that the cut off for the move in at my destination was 4 pm. Movers 201 arrived at the final destination at 3:30 pm. Mgmt there declined allowing them to unpack the truck. Much brouhaha over that . Thus I was charged a $225 storage fee for needing all my worldly possessions to stay in their truck overnight.
At the end of the move the next day for whatever reason the 4 workers couldn't figure out how to get a queen sized box spring in the elevator (do not cut geometry class boys and girls) and advised me to discard it and buy a new split one (after movers 201 left - my son in law, who thankfully was there with me doing other work, fished it out of the building's refuse area, dragged it to the elevator, then turned it 90 degrees et voila, in the elevator and up 13 flights no prob, c'est manifique).
The job was quoted at +/- $1400; actual retail price $2165 without tips and the requested pizza and soda lunch. AND my furniture was not reassembled - however this was due to the loudly ticking clock and somewhat to my place being mid-reno in the kitchen and bathroom. Soooo..... this wound up being a 10 hour job for moving 7/10th's of a mile the contents of a 1 br apt with patio furniture plus a small storage unit that admittedly was totally filled with boxes and my beach gear and other stuff (200 sf).
My move was a bit challenging in that I had storage on one floor and lots of boxes and large furniture but dang! I'm not a hoarder and we're talking a total of 1145 sf...
Conclusion: shop around and be prepared to pay more than the quoted amount - even with pictures supplied to this mover. That being said, other than the contentious conversation (brouhaha) between myself, Amir and my final destination's building mgmt they were really quite pleasant. Lovely people, if you use them, move as MUCH of your stuff yourself as possible and if going to an apartment building with scheduling constraints, be prepared-not all rules were made to be broken.
I was surprised to see a 2 stars rating from you, yes I know your move did not went as smooth as we both wanted it to be but overall we did everything possible to make it a smooth one,
Yes the movers was running late on move day and your move start time was 9:30 am instead of 9 am (your arrival window time was 8:30-9 am), the movers did their very best to get the loading as fast as they can but in some cases apartment building have quit of walking between your apartment door and the actual truck (even so you have an elevator in the building we still have to walk from your apartment door to the elevator and from the elevator to the truck) once we left your old apartment we went straight to the new building and arrived there by 3:30 pm, your building have a cut off time of 4 pm but as I told you before we worked in this building many time past the restricted time (it is all about how you deal with your building management, after all you are the tenant and you have the power to twist the management a bit and get them to approve an after hour move, it's not that we got there at 8 pm on a Friday, it's 3:30 pm on a Wednesday at the most busy day of moving.) when your building refuse to let us in I told you that I will do my very best to accommodate you and have your items deliver tomorrow (I could easily just put your items in storage till our next available date) but no I change the entire schedule for the next day and made it happened, your shipment was delivered the next day by 9am and placed in your apartment the way you wanted, over all your move took 1.5hr longer then the estimate time we gave you, yes you had to pay the $225 for the overnight storage (which cover the cost of the extra truck I had to get to accommodate the jobs that was scheduled for the next day), not sure what was the issue with the box spring but I'm sorry for the inconvenience there,
Bottom line is Movers 201 moves hundreds of customer each month, some jobs come under the estimate (none of those customers will call to complain that the estimate I gave him was wrong) and some of the jobs go over (there is hundreds of reasons why a job will go over or under the estimate time and we do not purposely underestimate your moving time to win your business, most of the business we lose are customers that received much lower estimate then ours).
Again Vanessa I apologize for any inconvenience that my company may cause you and I can ensure you that we always learn from mistake and working on improving at all time but we can't (no other business can) to make all customers happy at all time (I try my best working 7 days a week 12-15 hrs per day to accommodate you all)
