I had been burned by movers once in a long-distance move from California to New Jersey. I experienced communication problems, lack of follow-up, and a general lack of care and interest in resolving an issue in which the moving company failed to deliver a missing box filled with valuable items on move-in day (they even tried to deliver me a mattress that wasn't mine!). Needless to say, I was not looking forward to another move even if it was local and only to another town within NJ.
From the start, All Jersey Moving and Storage (AJMS) gave me the best quote out of three movers I had been considering. Two of the three movers told me they'd have to charge overtime fees for a Saturday move, but AJMS told me they could provide service on a Saturday without hesitation and extra fees. Move out day also happened for the most part without a hitch. The three guys were prompt and moved my stuff out of my apt. with great speed (it helped that I was organized and didn't do any last minute packing day of the move).
Moving into the new apt. was slightly more troublesome. When assembling my bed, one of the guys was careless and did end up poking a hole through the hole with one of the bed's parts. Also, one of my dresser mirrors didn't make it through the truck ride and arrived broke. Although I will have to repair the hole myself, the guys did state that the owner of AJMS could replace my broken mirror for me. I just have to give them a call and they'll supposedly get around to it. Overall, I'm a satisfied customer. Two of the three guys were professional, however the third one (who also put the hole in the wall) seemed a little "too helpful" and wanted me to place my furniture in places I didn't necessarily agree with it. It's like, I'm the resident here, not him. Bottom-line, you can't go wrong with AJMS, at least for local moves anyway.
