Ameritex Movers Inc. Reviews - 2

Great communication and care for my thingsby

I'm in the communications business (marketing consultant), so adequate, clear communication is paramount to me. I was pleased with Ameritex at their level of communication throughout the entire process.

During the initial set-up call, they got all my details and helped me figure out exactly what size crew I needed. Then the day before, they called again to go over everything, allowed me to pick the time my movers would arrive, and answer any additional questions I had.

The movers were on time, friendly and fast, but also careful. I appreciated that they came with extra wardrobe boxes and extra 'big boxes' (not sure what you call them), that safely hold and transport large items like framed pictures, etc.

At our new home, they were thorough in making sure every item went to the appropriate room, and even re-assembled the different pieces of furniture, including my children's bunk bed, so they could comfortably hit the sack after a long day's move.

All in all, a great experience, and I would recommend them to anyone needing a move in DFW.

Horrible Experience and Horrible Serviceby

If I could give negative stars, I would. Worst company I have ever done business with. The first time I used them I had no issues- years ago when their reviews were decent.

Second time: I would say was about a 4. The movers were efficient in moving me into storage. They put a rug of mine in the bed of a pick-up truck and I never saw it again. But I decided to just let it go, because when I moved out of storage 6 months later, I knew it was gone for good.

This time around? ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Ameritex's movers not only took multiple smoke breaks, went to lunch during the time that they were supposed to be completing my move, and they also damaged/broke my furniture and other items. When I opened boxes of my items, things were broken- awards, glassware, etc. Additionally, the driver decided it would be appropriate to lay across my living room (sweaty) and browse on his cell phone, used my powder room (#2), and the list goes on and on. I'm pretty easy-going and have a lot of things; but that was crossing the line for me.
The movers specifically broke 3 of my bookshelves; one of which they put up against a wall in my house as though it was as per normal, then it completely fell apart when I touched it. Essentially, I believe that they stacked it up against the wall to give the appearance that there was no issue.
I contacted the company via email the day after my move, requesting a phone call back from a manager regarding my issues. Two days later, I called their office (as I had not received any contact back), and their Manager (JULIE) was not only rude, she refused to provide me with information to file a claim for my damages. I had to call the Houston location today and advise that I would proceed with filing suit if I was not contacted within 3 business days. This afternoon, the assistant manager (GREG) contacted me, and he provided the claim information. He claims that the email box was full which is why no initial email was received. FALSE. I didn't receive any Email Failure Notification. In fact, after I sent a SECOND email, I received the Delivery failure response, which clearly means that my initial email was received and ignored... and my second email was not received, as I got the failure notification.
The Asst. Manager/ "Claims Manager" (LOL) first apologized, however got upset when I advised him of their poor BBB rating, as well as their poor online reviews- that I am now adding to. He seemed adamant in "proving" that they were a reputable company. He tried to rationalize the fact that my rug went missing, and said that I should have called. Let me get this straight... your movers moved me into STORAGE. My items were in storage for 6 months. I'm sure that they saw the rug. Why would they not ask to office to call me to pick up the rug from the back of their truck? Absolutely ridiculous.

He also said that they "only" had 18 complaints in 3 years with the BBB. That's not a figure I would be proud of, especially when the reviews online are poor across the board. If out of 3 moves, I've had issues with TWO... any opinion that you have about YOUR company, I do not care to hear. To get upset because I didn't agree with him was so audacious to me. Amazing how faux-offended" someone can get when you don't raise your voice, are not disrespectfuly, but disagree with their statements. I wonder if he was big mad or little mad. Bottom line? STAY AWAY FROM THEM. Management is a joke. I would move my things on my back before I ever used this company.
